Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators, Los Angeles (local chapter) April 18, 2009 Agency Rules of EngagementAt Firebrand Literary, we love visiting writer's groups to share our knowledge about the publishing industry and how to get published. We are always willing to come speak at your meeting, but there are a few rules of engagement we follow before agreeing to a visit: - All requests for speakers are treated as Firebrand Literary agency requests; if you have a preference for a specific agent, please specify this and we'll try our best to accommodate you! - Once we've confirmed that a Firebrand agent will be able to attend your event, we'll have that agent send you any requests for travel or AV arrangements - we usually like to leave it up to the organization or chapter to make these arrangements in order to avoid headaches. - Please provide a schedule ahead of time so that the agent speaking knows when and where to go (including times they will be scheduled to give workshops, panels and one-on-ones). - Please allow for some time off for the agent. Though we love talking to new and established writers, there are times when we won't be at our best... No pitching us at the breakfast table (when we're half asleep) or in the bathroom. - Please let us know afterwards how we did. We're always looking for feedback on our performance so please let us know how we did and if there are any suggestions you have. We look forward to visiting all of your group meetings.
